Need help please - Easy question for most of you guys

I have a Suzuki savage 2002 model and I want to take off the gas tank because my spark plugs are fouled. The only problem is , I unbolted both the bolts with the seat off and thing won't budge . . It says in the manual that you pull up and slide back . . but I've been trying and the thing just wiggles and doesn't come off. Anyone know what the problem is ? I went to the dealership and they said that they can do it for money of course , but I don't want to pay them for something like taking off the gas tank. Any help would be appreciated !
